| VMUF Student wins CHED National Oratorical Contest |

Alexander Cedric Stephen Kjell Jose Embing, a sophomore Veterinary student of Virgen Milagrosa University Foundation won second runner up; with his winning peace “Reaching for the Stars’ in the CHED National Oratorical contest held in UP Diliman campus last March 2, 2010. Embing also won in the Regional Level of said event, held in PSU Lingayen, Pangasinan as well in the Provincial level held in January at the University of Luzon which made him qualify for the national level with 16 other contenders from different schools nationwide. In the national contest, he was accompanied by Miss Norwina Anchiboy the official coach, Dr. Leo Solis – Dean of VMUF College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Ernesto Escano – VMUF VP for Academic Affairs, Ms. Dulce Solis – VMUF HRD Training and Development Officer, Ms. Erlinda Quiros – VMUF Assistant Registrar and Dr. Benedicto Martinez – Vet Med Professor. Meanwhile, Dr. Caridad Abuan –OIC CHED Region 1 and Dr. Geraldine Casipit – CHED Region 1 were also present in the said competition. In an interview with Embing, it was known that he started joining public speaking contests as story teller in 1997 in his elementary school Divine Light Academy in Las Pinas. During his high school days, he also joined declamation contest in 2005 at the Colegio de Sta Rosa De Lima in Laguna. He added that he also won in an improntu speech contest sponsored by Rotary International that same year. Embing was a transferee from University of the Philippines Manila. He enrolled at the VMUF College of Veterinary Medicine in the 1st semester of 2009. He lives in Brgy. Dumpay, Basista Pangasinan. (ACC) |
